promo leaflet resources

John Welham, Education Officer for the Cornwall Heritage Trust, has prepared two packs to be used in schools. One was created in 2009 and is about the Giant's Quoit. It can be downloaded as a PDF.

The second and third packs detailing sites in the vicinity of Treslothan are now available. Part 1   Part 2

A number of education resources have been made for the project. Below are two examples that you can have fun with, and below these are education packs about the Quoit and its history.

Put the quoit in the Frying Pan Field - Make a Thaumatrope

The thaumatrope is a toy that was popular in the 19th century. A disc with a picture on each side is attached to two pieces of string. When the strings are twirled quickly between the fingers the two pictures appear to blend into one. Ours shows the quoit on one side and an empty landscape on the other.

Create your own Giant Pocket book!

This pocket book contains an outline story of the quoit in English, translated into Cornish by MAGA. You can teach children how to fold the A3 sheet to make an 8 page pocket book, and choose appropriate stickers to decorate the pages. Encourage them to add their own drawings and words too!

Download two PDFs. The book PDF is sized to print A3, and works best in full colour. The sticker PDF is made by printing onto inkjet A4 'jam labels' 63.5 x 38.1mm - 21 labels per sheet. This size of labels will print your stickers to perfection and can be found in retail outlets and online.
